According to RIA, Russia might pursue compensation for the explosions that occurred on the Nord Stream pipeline. The presence of gas bubbles on the surface of the Baltic Sea near Bornholm, Denmark, indicates a disruption in an area that spans over one kilometer in diameter.
According to a statement from a foreign ministry official, Russia is holding off on seeking compensation until the investigation into the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines is complete.
Explosions occurred last year causing damage to the pipelines located beneath the Baltic Sea. Investigations have not yet determined the party responsible for the incidents.
When asked about compensation, RIA reported that Dmitry Birichevsky, who leads the economic cooperation department at the ministry, mentioned that the investigation is still ongoing. They are eagerly awaiting the presentation of the results to the United Nations Security Council before making any decisions regarding what actions to take.
The responsibility for the explosions that resulted in Russia's disconnection from the profitable European market has been attributed to the United States, Britain, and Ukraine by Russia. However, these countries have refuted any involvement in the incidents.
The United Nations Security Council has decided not to conduct an independent investigation into the incident and has instead delegated this responsibility to the governments of Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.
