ESPN reported that Lamar Jackson of the Ravens reached 5,000 career rushing yards in the fewest games by a quarterback. This achievement in Inglewood, California on Sunday night further solidifies Jackson's position as one of the top running quarterbacks in NFL history.
The Ravens maintained their lead in the AFC with a strong performance in the fourth quarter. The AFC playoff race, MVP race, and two quarterback situations are all topics to consider after Week 12 in the NFL. Lamar Jackson reached 5,000 career rushing yards in the fewest number of games for a quarterback, achieving this milestone in his 82nd game compared to the 104 games it took Michael Vick.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh commented that the statement made was significant in his eyes.
Jackson is now part of a small group of quarterbacks who have achieved the milestone of rushing for 5,000 yards, alongside Vick, Cam Newton, and Russell Wilson
After being informed about the achievement following the game, Jackson simply replied with the word "Cool."
After being chosen as the final pick in the first round of the 2018 draft, Jackson has elevated the standard for quarterbacks who can both pass and run effectively. He broke the record for the most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season in 2019 with 1,206 yards, and in 2020 he became the first quarterback to achieve multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons by gaining 1,005 yards.
Jackson's next goal is to exceed Vick's record for career rushing yards by a quarterback, which currently stands at 6,109 yards achieved in 13 seasons in the NFL.
