On Sunday in Minehead, Luke Humphries won the Players Championship Finals by beating Michael van Gerwen with a score of 11-9.
It appeared that Van Gerwen was in charge of the final, especially after hitting a perfect nine-dart finish before the first break. Nevertheless, Humphries made a strong comeback.
Van Gerwen was in the lead at 9-5, but Humphries made a comeback by winning six consecutive legs, ultimately securing a 11-9 win.

The Dutch player had the opportunity to tie the game, but missed a shot at scoring 47 points. Humphries then hit a maximum score to increase the intensity of the game.
Neither player was able to finish the leg, as Van Gerwen failed to hit 32 and Humphries missed his opportunity on double seven.
Becoming popular
Since Van Gerwen struggled to hit his target from 16, Humphries had to hit double one to win another ranking title. This win puts him in the running as a strong competitor for the upcoming World Championships.
Humphries, who recently won the World Grand Prix and Grand Slam titles, achieved his third televised victory in just seven weeks.

Humphries expressed uncertainty about the situation and mentioned that the past few weeks have been incredibly challenging for him, with constant travel and time away from his family. He explained that he has been focused solely on playing darts every day, but on that particular day, he finally felt a sense of relief.

Humphries mentioned that he was required to defeat him in a final match, which he successfully accomplished.
"Michael was performing exceptionally well in that moment. I started to feel like I needed to come up with a surprise strategy because of how well he was playing. However, he missed many shots, giving me the opportunity to make a comeback."
I always wanted to defeat Phil Taylor in a final, but that opportunity never came. Beating Michael van Gerwen, who is considered one of the greatest darts players of our time and even hit a nine-darter, would be the next best thing. It has always been my dream to beat him in a final.

During the semi-finals, Humphries easily defeated Ryan Joyce with a score of 11-3 and an average of 106.2, while Van Gerwen won against German No 1 player Gabriel Clemens with a score of 11-6.
In the afternoon session of the finals day, Dutch player Van Gerwen managed to come back from a losing position to narrowly beat Stephen Bunting 10-9 in their quarter-final match.
Clemens advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Luke Woodhouse with a score of 10-7. Humphries also won with the same score against James Wade, and Joyce managed to beat Damon Heta with a score of 10-6.
